March 29th, 2011 - NOROCK Ecologist Receives FWS Partnership Award

USGS Research Ecologist Erik Beever and his colleague Andrea Woodward (a Biologist with USGS-FRESC) received the US Fish and Wildlife Service's (Region 7) Outstanding Partner Award for their work with the National Wildlife Refuge System on a science effort to expand ecoregional-scale inventory and monitoring efforts on Alaska refuges (in collaboration with the Service's DOI and other partners). The project involved development of local- and ecoregional-scale conceptual models and assistance with developing a regional Inventory & Monitoring Plan. Each of these efforts resulted in USGS Open-File Reports. The award was presented on March 29th.

February 3rd, 2011 - 20 Year Award

Congratulations and thanks to Ed Olexa for 20 years of service! Ed began his career as a Wildlife Technician with Pete Gogan and is currently working on his doctorate. Read up on Ed's work examining Elk on the Landscape.

January 2nd, 2011 - New addition!

NOROCK research technician Lindsey Bengtson and her husband welcomed their new son Colter Wayne Bengtson into the world on January 2, 2011. We wish Lindsey and family well!
