September 10, 2010 - Sojda assumes Interim Coordinator position for Science Applications and Decision Support.

USGS NOROCK scientist Rick Sojda has assumed additional duties in Science Applications and Decision Support in the Global Change Program Office, filling in for DeWayne Cecil who has moved on to NOAA's Climate Services as their Regional Director in Salt Lake City. Rick has been part of the Science Applications and Decision Support team for the past two years. He remains the Science Coordinator for the Great Northern Landscape Conservation Cooperative.

September 10, 2010 - New scientists join NOROCK staff.

Dr. Robb Diehl, currently a faculty member with Southern Mississippi University, has accepted the position of Radar Ornithologist/Research Ecologist with the USGS Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center.

Dr. Robert Al'Chokhachy has accepted a Mendenhall Post Doc position with the USGS Northern Rocky Mountain Science Center. Dr. Al'Chokhachy will be looking at invasive species modeling in aquatic systems under various climate change scenarios.

July 23rd, 2010 - Research team receives award for scientific paper.

NOROCK scientists Katherine Kendall, Jeff Stetz, Amy Macleod and co-authors are the 2010 recipients of The Wildlife Society’s Wildlife Publications Award - Outstanding Article, for their paper “Demography and Genetic Structure of a Recovering Grizzly Bear Population”, published in the Journal of Wildlife Management in 2009. The award is given to papers which are “scientific writing characterized by originality of research or thought and a high scholastic standard in the manner of presentation.” The award will be presented in October at The Wildlife Society’s 17th Annual Conference in Snowbird, Utah.
